His Holiness John Paul II appointed Very Rev. Dr. Joseph Konnath, as the new Apostolic Visitor and the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archieparchy of Trivandrum on 5 January 2005. He was consecrated as a Bishop with the name Joseph Mar Thomas on February 19, 2005. The Malankara Catholic Holy Episcopal Synod (MCES) entrusted the pastoral care of the entire Malankara Catholic outside India to His Excellency Most Rev. Joseph Mar Thomas. At present the Malankara Catholic Major Archiepiscopal Church outside India is flourishing under the dynamic leadership of His Excellency Dr. Joseph Mar Thomas . ….

Year for priests |

Pope Benedict XVI has declared 19 June 2009 to 19 June 2010 a Year for Priests beginning. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the death of Jean Marie Vianney, the Cure of Ars, a model of priestly service.
All Catholics are encouraged to remember their priests through prayer, the celebration of the Mass, and Eucharistic adoration throughout the Year for Priests. Pope Benedict has granted special Indulgences to mark this Year. |
